Just after 9 a.m., K-9 deputy Greg Hornkohl was patrolling South Cedar Road when he came upon a 2004 Toyota SUV that the roadway rolled over near Cate Road.

The deputy rendered aid to the driver who was pinned inside the vehicle and suffering from a head injury.

Cedar Area Fire and Rescue responded and provided additional medical aid to the driver and transported her to Munson Medical Center for further treatment.

No alcohol or drugs were involved in this crash. The driver was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A 28-year-old woman from Empire was arrested for drunk driving after being stopped for speeding in the Village of Empire.

A deputy running radar on LaCore Street about 8:45 Saturday night stopped a red Jeep for traveling 41 mph in a 25 mph zone.

During the initial contact with the driver, the deputy detected a strong odor of alcohol.

The driver was arrested for suspicion of operating a vehicle intoxicated, second offense.

She was lodged in the Leelanau County Jail.

A 61-year-old male was arrested Friday night after an incident in a Leelanau Township home.

At 10:26 p.m. deputies responded to a residence on N. Mill St., in reference to a reported assault that allegedly occurred earlier at a home on N. Kilcherman Rd.

Deputies interviewed a 35-year-old woman who was sharing a home with the 61-year-old male suspect.

Earlier in the evening, there had been an issue between the victim and the suspect over cooking at a late hour, according to police reports.

The victim stated the suspect assaulted her by elbowing her in the side and throwing a pan of potatoes at her.

The suspect was still at the Leelanau Township residence when interviewed that evening. He was placed under arrest for domestic assault and lodged in the Leelanau County Jail.

The victim suffered minor injuries during the assault that did not require further medical treatment.

A 47-year-old Traverse City woman was arrested for drunk driving after she was stopped for an equipment violation.

At 12:31 a.m. last Wednesday, Jan. 24, a deputy patrolling S. West Bay Shore Drive in Elmwood Township reported observing a 2018 Honda van traveling southbound without working tail lights.

During a traffic stop, the deputy smelled alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest for suspicion of operating a vehicle intoxicated.

She was lodged in the Leelanau County Jail.
