S-B grad, Marine vet now deputy


LOTT LOTT A 2003 Suttons Bay graduate has been hired as a fulltime deputy with the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Ryan Lott took the oath of office from Sheriff Mike Borkovich Monday to begin serving the citizens of Leelanau County.

He replaces Deputy Tim Tull, who left the county to take a job as a fulltime emergency services manager in North Carolina.

Lott served four years in the United States Marine Corps in the 3rd light armored reconnaissance battalion including two combat duty tours in Iraq.

After an honorable discharge, Lott was hired as an Alaskan State Trooper where he’s served for the past seven years.
