Gauthiers celebrate 70th anniversary

Linus and Josephine Gauthier, who met will attending St. Mary School, tomorrow will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary.

Linus Gauthier and the former Josephine Schaub, who now reside in Traverse City, exchanged vows on Feb. 9, 1948, at St. Mary Catholic Church.

Linus and Josephine were both born and raised in Lake Leelanau. After marrying, they moved to Traverse City. Linus retired in 1990 from Gauthier’s Shoe Repair, while Josephine retired in 1995 after working for 30 years at Munson Medical Center.

The couple has four children, Robert and Carol (Sexton), Kathe and JC Zimmerman, Wanda and Paul Plamondon, and MaryAnn and Dan Fouch. They also have nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and say they have been “blessed with many” great-great grandchildren.

Family members held a private celebration in honor of the anniversary.
