Business Briefs: Rove to host Sip & Sled event

County folks are invited to sip local wine and sled through a vineyard on Feb. 25 as part of a “Sip & Sled” event at Rove Estate.

The event, which according to its Facebook page is co-hosted by the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail, will offer hot chocolate, sledding, a snowman contest and other winter activities.

Attendees may bring a sled of their own or borrow one of the winery’s.

Admission is free for kids and $12 for adults. It includes a Rove tumbler, a “boozy warm winter drink” and exclusive deals for the day.

Sponsor the wine festival

The Leland Chamber of Commerce is in search of sponsors for the 33rd annual Leland Wine & Food Festival.

The state’s oldest, continually hosted wine festival attracts about 3,000 people annually, and organizers are aiming for 4,000 this year. A thorough list of additional incentives is available on the chamber website.

Sponsorships start at $150.

All proceeds from the event benefit charities, educational partnerships, marketing and town maintenance.

Costco offers one-day pass

The new, membership-only warehouse in Traverse City has offered members of the Leland Chamber of Commerce a one-day shopping pass.

Members were encouraged to print a flier that was hyperlinked in the chamber’s weekly email and “shop like a Costco member” for a day. The promotion started yesterday and ends Sunday.

Employees and family members of chamber businesses are also welcome.

Costco is located near Cherry Capital Airport on South Airport Road.
