KEN PLAMONDON and the Lakers will look to shake things up this weekend in Great Northwest Bowling Conference tournaments. The Glen Lake bowling team woke a sleeping giant Saturday morning.

Glen Lake got things going with a 136-96 win in the first baker game, but Bellaire stormed back from there with a 156-102 drubbing in the second.

Ken Plamondon bowled high games of 167 and 156 for Glen Lake in singles competition but it wasn’t enough as Bellaire came out on top 25-5.

“Bellaire has a very good coach and he’s got them bowling well,” Glen Lake co-coach Rod Parent said. “They had a hard time in the first baker game, but they woke up and bowled well the rest of the time. I don’t know how many seniors they have, but they’re not all freshmen — I know that.”

Drew Barber registered the lone point for Glen Lake in singles action.

The Lakers will look to gain experience this weekend in Great Northwest Bowling Conference tournaments at Lucky Jack’s. Based on season averages, Parent said, their chances of taking home hardware are slim.

“Reality is going to hit these kids,” Parent said. “They get a printout every week of all the averages, and we’re way down the list.”

The Lakers will look to beat the odds in the singles tournament on Friday and the team tournament on Saturday.
