SAVANNAH PEPLINSKI, who amassed a career-high 39 points in a win at Frankfort last Thursday, is pictured in Glen Lake’s win at St. Francis on Monday. Call it an ongoing investigation.

Glen Lake coaches and former Glen Lake players could neither confirm nor deny whether Savannah Peplinski’s 39-point performance in a 72-57 win at Frankfort last Thursday was a school record — but if Liz (Shimek) Moeggenberg never scored 40 in a game, there’s a chance.

“Defensively she got after it,” Glen Lake coach Jason Bradford said. “She got it done with a lot of layups and defensive steals up top.”

Peplinski, a senior, shot 14-of-25 in her final regular season game and made it a double-double with 10 steals.

Fellow senior guard Allie Bonzelet wasn’t surprised by the performance.

“When no one else was playing their game, she stepped up for the team and took over,” Bonzelet said.

Peplinski poured in 319 points in 20 regular season games, averaging 15.8.

Leland senior Garett Miller, meanwhile, is closing in on the boys title with one regular season game to play.

Miller has scored 347 points in 16 games, averaging 21.7 on the year.

Thomas Hursey of Suttons Bay is next with 16.8 points per game thus far.
