Resident since: 2011

Age and birthplace: I’m 48 years old and I was born in Big Rapids.

Occupation: Optician at Insight Optometry

Marital status: I’ve been married 29 years to my husband, Richard.

You live in Leelanau County because: My family is all here and it’s a wonderful place to live. We are blessed with a great community up here.

Last good movie you saw: My husband and I went to see “Forever My Girl” in the theater and I thought that it was a touching movie about love, family, and forgiveness.

Last good book you read: “Beyond Me, My Selfie, and I: Finding Real Happiness in a Self-Absorbed World,” by Teresa Tomeo.

If you could trade places with one person for one day, it would be: Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta because her generosity, love, and compassion for all people is something that we should all strive to have. Just think about what the world could be like if we all did that.

Things important to you that you’ve accomplished so far: Raising my family; I have two successful daughters, two son-in-laws, and five grandchildren. I’m also proud of my career and to be living in a place that I love.

What you hope to be doing in 10 years: Enjoying my family, traveling, and nearing retirement. I also hope to be writing a children’s book about all of the things grandparents can teach their grandchildren - in honor of my dad, Dave Grant, who passed away.

Things you lose sleep over: The safety, security, and future of the world for my grandchildren.

If you could change one thing in Leelanau County it would be: I would make housing more affordable for all of the hardworking families that live here. It’s a real struggle for a lot of people.

Favorite dessert: Any kind of pie

Are you a coffee drinker? No, I only drink water or lemonade.

Favorite place in Leelanau County: My family’s cherry orchard off of Lavassar Road. The view of South Lake Leelanau is so peaceful and such a great place to just stop for a moment and think.

If you had more time you would: I would volunteer, read more, and learn how to do pottery.

The words that best describe you are: Patient, kind, determined, and positive.
