Coffee hour with state representative

State House Rep. Curt VanderWall — who has his eyes on the state Senate — will host a “coffee hour” on Friday starting at 3 p.m. VanderWall will meet with residents at the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners Room at the Government Center.

VanderWall has announced his candidacy for the state Senate seat now held by Darwin Booher, who is term limited.

Egg hunt beats Easter rush

Bring your baskets and join the fun Sunday at 12:15 p.m. at the St. Mary School campus. Toddler through 5th grade children are invited to the first egg hunt of the season. Prizes will be given for each of three age categories, with “goodie bags” for all participants. Lemonade and coffee provided.

Annual meeting season begins

It’s March, which means townships in Leelanau County will be hosting residents for annual meetings.

The first one will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kasson Township Hall to hear continued support for the fire department and maintenance of the township hall. Also on tap are $500 salary increases for the township clerk, treasurer and supervisor, which residents will decide. See page 8 for more times and dates.
