Public Notices For Leelanau County

Michigan law requires local governments to inform their citizenry through public notices published in newspapers of record for their communities. Notices that can be found in Section Four of this week’s Leelanau Enterprise include:

 Leelanau County Government Center will be closing at noon on March 30, in observance of Good Friday.

 Elmwood Township board meeting synopsis for March 12.

 Cleveland Township board meeting synopsis for March 13.

 Cleveland Township Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing and special meeting April 11 at 6:30 pm. The subject of the public hearing is a (1) request for dimensional variances and (2) interpretation of the Cleveland Township Zoning Ordinance.

 Elmwood Township board public hearing is scheduled for March 26 at 6:00 pm. To consider and hear public input on a Michigan DNR Trust Fund Development Grant.

Glen Arbor Township zoning board of appeals will hold a public hearing on April 19 at 1 pm. To discuss a request for a variance from Zoning Ordinance Section XII.4, Fences, Walls, Screens, for a 2 foot addition to the allowed 6’ fence height.

 The Empire Township Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2018/2019 at the Township’s Annual Meeting on March 31 at 10:00 am.

The Leelanau County Government Center will be closing at noon on Friday, March 30, 2018, in observance of Good Friday.

As approved by the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners and as approved in the Leelanau County Personnel Policy Manual and the Teamster’s Local #214 union contract, Good Friday is a holiday and shall be observed.

Elmwood Township Notice To The Public

The Township Board of the Charter Township of Elmwood held a regular meeting on March 12, 2018. TV channel 191 or online at www.upnorthmedia.org.

Cleveland Township Board Proceedings

The following is a synopsis of the March 13, 2018, meeting of the Cleveland Township board. The complete minutes are available from the Township Clerk. Supervisor Stein called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All members were present as well as one guest.

Agenda was approved as presented.

Approved minutes of the February 13, 2018 meeting.

Received Treasurer’s report and approved payment of bills.

Received Clerk, Planning Commission, Zoning Administrator, Zoning Board of Appeals and Assessor’s reports.

The board approved an agreement with the Leelanau County Road Commission for improvement to CR 669 consisting of the replacement of the Shalda Creek culvert.

The board approved the payment of $45,000 for the next two years to fund the Cedar Area Fire & Rescue Capital Fund.

Public comment was held. The meeting was adjourned at 7:59 p.m.

Cleveland Township Zoning Board of Appeals Notice to the Public

Public Hearing and Special Meeting

Wednesday, April 11, 2018 - 6:30 p.m.

The subject of the public hearing is a (1) request for dimensional variances and (2) interpretation of the Cleveland Township Zoning Ordinance as follows:

1. Tax ID’s 003-140-001-00 & 003- 024-018-00; Circuit Court has ordered the Zoning Board of Appeals for Cleveland Township reconsideration of the denial of the requested variance, which is the subject of appeal. The variance request by Owner, Rod Sturgeon, request a variance to these residential parcels from Zoning Ordinance Section 5.08 Setback Restrictions, specifically, the “no closer than 75 ft from the water’s edge”. The variance seeks a 45ft from the 75 ft setback requirement on the south side of properties re: drainage ditch. The parcels are located at 5718 & 5710 S. Lime Lake Rd.

2. In connection with the reconsideration, the Board of Appeals has been ordered to complete “any necessary interpretation of the Cleveland Township zoning ordinance necessary to said reconsideration”. If interpretation is determined by the Zoning Board of Appeals to be necessary to the reconsideration, the provision subject to interpretation would be Cleveland Township Zoning Ordinance section 3.73 “Water’s Edge” along with its definition “The vegetation line along the shore closest to the proposed building site”.

Elmwood Township Board Notice Of Public Hearing

A Public Hearing is scheduled for Monday, March 26, 2018, at 6:00 pm. before the Charter Township of Elmwood Board to consider and hear public input on a Michigan DNR Trust Fund Development Grant for universal accessible floating docks to improve access to Tall Ships at Discovery Pier Harbor and universal accessible small boat launch on Discover Pier. These facilities would be located on Discover Pier (formally TC L&P coal dock), parcel number 45-004-033-078-00.

Empire Township Notice of Budget Hearing

The Empire Township Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2018/2019 at the Township’s Annual Meeting on March 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Township Hall, 10088 W. Front Street, Empire, Michigan.
