Well it certainly is good to be back. We came from over 70 degrees to over 7 inches. That’s just great.

I just want to say that after reading the letters to the editor the past couple of weeks, I’m really sorry I missed it; I love well-prepared snipe.

I received a message from Jeanine Dean who asked me to relay it and I agree totally. She said, “Fire chief John Dotson has a real heart for the people in the Glen Lake area. His men are trained to fight fire on land and from the water. They assist us in big problems and little ones. They are out there with their chainsaws and in-house with their stethoscopes and heart monitors. I would like chief John and his men to know they are greatly appreciated and respected.” I know others feel that way, and I think Ms. Dean said it all.

This spring, the National Park Service will conduct a prescribed burn near Bass Lake in Benzie County sometime between April 25 and May 25, depending on weather. Prior to the burn, we will be conducting an archaeological survey in the burn site to locate any prehistoric or historic artifacts. This survey will be led by Dr. Ashley Barnett from the Midwest Archaeological Center (NPS). A small team will be working with Ashley, and they would like one volunteer to assist each of the following days: April 10-13 and April 16-20. The work will begin about 8:30 a.m. Contact Jason Berg at the Lakeshore.

I am certain that it will warm up for a month or two starting soon. At least I am hopeful.

Snow birds are returning, I saw a flock of cars last week heading North.
