Spaghetti dinner for Geiger families

A benefit dinner is planned on Saturday from 4-7 p.m. in the Lions Club community building in Maple City to raise funds to help families severely impacted by a tragic car accident. Ava Geiger died in the accident, and her niece Arianna Geiger was injured. RSVP is requested; please call 735-0434 or 640-0698.

County planners offer housing session

The Leelanau County Planning Commission will concentrate on the general topic of “housing” at its annual public session, which addresses a different topic each year. The session will be held at the county Government Center from 6:30-8:30 p.m. next Wednesday, April 18.

Native plants draw emphasis

Saving the Birds Through Habitat executive director Kay Charter, invasive species coordinator Katie Grzesiak and local students will provide presentations at the formal launch of the Leelanau Native Plants Initiative. The event will also be held at the Government Center next Wednesday, April 18, but will begin at noon.
