I warned you that summer would get here. Now maybe it will continue for a while.

It was pretty hard to do much planting on Arbor Day/Earth Day, but I’m sure some broke through the snow, planted a tree and took care of Mother Earth.

In the event that you haven’t noticed, which would be almost impossible, work on the new tennis courts, pickle ball courts, and other upgrades at the township park is in full bloom.

Speaking of mothers, Mother’s Day is May 13. Maybe you won’t plant a tree, but flowers could be nice. Just don’t forget.

Hopefully everyone is enjoying Restaurant Week in Glen Arbor.

Registration for youth baseball and softball will end May 4. Boys and girls who are ages 5 to 12 by May 1 from Maple city, Empire, Glen Arbor and Cedar are welcome to participate. Seasonal residents are invited. Registration is either online or by mail. The season runs from June through July. For more information contact league directors. They are Empire/Glen Arbor youth baseball coordinator Pam Houtterman at gebaseball@empireareacommunitycenter.org, or for Maple City email mcbaseball@empireareacommunitycenter.org. In the Cedar area contact Jackie Budd.

The weather cooperated last weekend and brought many people out to the Empire Emergency Fund concert at Art’s Bar. A great success and much needed money raised.

Happy Anniversary wishes to Sue and Tim Nichols and to Melissa and Chris Reid. I hope you have many more to celebrate.

It’s fix up time, enjoy the yard work, painting and general outside maintenance. Have fun, be careful, be kind.
