Leland School seeks renewal

In addition to the bond proposal, voters in the Leland School District will consider a proposal they seen many times and have repeatedly supported.

The district is seeking a renewal of a 10.013-mill property tax levy on non- Homestead and non-qualified agricultural properties which are generally identified as second homes and commercial properties.

Renewal will allow the district to continue receiving all available state funding to pay for operations.

If the millage fails, Leland Public School stands to lose about $3.5 million in the new fiscal year which begins July 1.

This accounts for nearly 80 percent of the district’s annual revenue.
