Norsemen nab 4 scholarships

Four Suttons Bay golfers were recently included on a list of 14 Traverse City Junior Golf Association (TCJGA) College Scholarship winners.

Thomas Hursey, who will join the Ferris State golf team this fall, landed the Bob & Judy Lober Scholarship while another future Ferris State student, Parker LaPointe, received the Herb Domres Memorial Scholarship. Eli Lewis, who is headed to Grand Valley State, secured the Scott C. Cook Memorial Scholarship; Evan Rohrback plans to use the Steve White Memorial Scholarship to further his education at Grand Rapids Community College.

The foursome will be recognized on Aug. 8 at the TCJGA Scholarship, Sponsors and Members Tournament at Crystal Lake Golf Club in Beulah.

TCJGA members are eligible to apply for college scholarships if they are a graduating high school senior or current college student and have been an active participating member of the TCJGA for four or more years.

The program, which has produced more than $310,000 in college educational funds since 1994, is financed through an annual TCJGA Tournament, several memorial scholarships, TCJGA sponsors and donors.
