Public Notices For Leelanau County

Michigan law requires local governments to inform their citizenry through public notices published in newspapers of record for their communities.  Elmwood Township board regular meeting synopsis for May 14.

 Leelanau Montessori will hold it’s Annual Budget Hearing on June 18 at 7:00 p.m.

 Leelanau Township board adopted Ordinance No. 1 of 2018 and Ordinance No. 2 of 2018, that amend the Leelanau Township Zoning Ordinance.

 Elmwood Township board adopt Ordinance Number 2018-02, Ordinance Addressing Floodplain Management Provisions of the State Construction Code.

 Elmwood Township planning commission will hold a meeting on June 19 at 7:00 p.m. to consider amending the Zoning Ordinance to allow utility scale solar energy in the Agricultural Rural zoning district and to consider a request by West Shore Partners LLC for a private marina.

Elmwood Township Zoning Ordinance to allow special event facilities in certain zoning districts was adopted.

Elmwood Township Notice To The Public

The Township Board of the Charter Township of Elmwood held a regular meeting on May 14, 2018. The complete minutes of the meeting may be viewed online at leelanau.cc/elmwoodtwp. asp or at the township office during normal business hours. The meetings may be viewed on Govt. Leelanau Montessori Public School Academy Notice to the Public

Leelanau Township Notice Of Ordinance Adoption

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Leelanau Township Board, at their regular meeting on May 8, 2018 at 7:00 PM held at the Leelanau Township Hall, 119 E. Nagonaba Street, Northport, Michigan, adopted Ordinance No. 1 of 2018 and Ordinance No. 2 of 2018, that amend the Leelanau Township Zoning Ordinance.

The following is a synopsis:

Ordinance No.1 of 2018

An amendment to the Leelanau Township Zoning Ordinance that:

1. Adds a definition of Short Term Rental to Article 2.

2. Adds a definition of Duplex to Article 2.

3. Revises the definition of Guest House.

4. Adds Duplex/Two Family Dwelling with conditions to Section 4.2 – Permitted Uses in the Agricultural Zoning District.

5. Adds Guest House with conditions to Section 4.3 – Permitted Accessory Uses in the Agricultural Zoning District.

6. Replaces current footnote 12 in Section 5.7.A. which establishes new conditions for Guest Houses in the Residential Zoning District.

Ordinance No.2 of 2018

An amendment to the Leelanau Township Zoning Ordinance that adds footnote 25 to Table 3.5.A (Schedule of Regulations) which allows the side and rear setbacks for uninhabited Accessory Buildings in the Agricultural Zoning District to be reduced from 40’ to 20’.

These Ordinances shall become effective eight (8) days after publication in a newspaper of general circulation within the township.

Elmwood Township Notice to the Public

ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE

PLEASE TAKE NOTE that the Township Board of the Charter Township of Elmwood, at their regular meeting on May 14, 2018, made a motion to adopt Ordinance Number 2018-02, Ordinance Addressing Floodplain Management Provisions of the State Construction Code. Elmwood Township Planning Commission Notice Of Public Hearing

The following Public Hearings are scheduled for Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. before the Elmwood Charter Township Planning Commission to consider:

1) ZO 2017-04-01, a zoning ordinance amendment to amend the Zoning Ordinance to allow utility scale solar energy in the Agricultural Rural zoning district.

2) SU/SPR 2018-04 a request by West Shore Partners LLC for a private marina, parcel number 45-004-033-088-00 & 45-004-033-090-01, commonly addressed as 13380 S West Bay Shore Dr.

A complete copy of the applications are available at the Township Hall or online at www.leelanau.cc/elmwoodtwp. asp. Regular Township business hours are Monday thru Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

The public hearing will be held at the Elmwood Township Hall, 10090 E. Lincoln Road, Traverse City. Individuals can make public comment or submit written comments, in person, at the public hearing. Written comments may be submitted prior to the public hearing by mailing them to: Planning and Zoning Department, 10090 E. Lincoln Rd, Traverse City, MI 49684 or planner@elmwoodtownship.net. Written comments submitted prior to the public hearing will be received until 5:00 pm, Tuesday, June 19, 2018.

AMENDMENT

PLEASE TAKE NOTE that the Township Board of the Charter Township of Elmwood, at their regular meeting on May 14, 2018, made a motion to adopt amendment ZO 2017-04-02, Ordinance Number 2018-01 to the Elmwood Township Zoning Ordinance to allow special event facilities in certain zoning districts. The ordinance may be viewed at the Township Hall at 10090 E. Lincoln Road, Traverse City, MI 49684 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and on the township website at leelanau.cc/elm- woodtwp.asp.

Empire Township Board Minutes

The following is a synopsis of the May 8, 2018 regular meeting of the Empire Township Board. A complete copy of the minutes may be obtained by contacting the Clerk at 231-326-5349.

Supervisor Noonan called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Members present: Deering, Neiswonger, Price, and Deegan. Minutes of the 04-10-18 regular meeting were approved.

Actions approved by motion: 1) Approved the transfer of the Fire Fund’s approximate $330,000 in HNB savings accounts to a First National Bank of America 13 month CD at the rate of 2.20. 2) Approved the closure of Wilco Road on September 14 and September 15, 2018 for the Empire Hill Climb, contingent on an approved Special Event application. 3) Paid monthly bills.

In other business, the board accepted contractor, Kent Wiejaczka, and a licensed architect’s offer to volunteer their services to evaluate the current fire station to see if it could be modified to accommodate larger vehicles and larger and healthier living quarters for personnel.
