Take a hike with dad this weekend

The Leelanau Conservancy will host two separate hikes this Father’s Day weekend.

Docents JoAnne Gerben and Kathy Ricord will lead a hike at the Krumwiede Forest Reserve on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The preserve, located north of Glen Arbor, features a healthy sustainable forestland that provides habitat for a variety of birds and wildlife. It also has interesting geological traits and historical background.

The terrain at Krumwiede is challenging so sturdy shoes are recommended.

On Sunday, the Clay Cliffs Natural Area, will be the site of a Father’s Day hike.

Docents Ann McInnis, Beth Chiles and Mary Tris will lead the hike at the natural area, located north of Leland on M-22.

Participants can listen to nesting birds, look for evidence of all sorts of animal activities, and discover a super special native plant species.

Further information is available at 256-9665 or at the conservancy website.
