The Apsey brothers have a chance to suit up for the same team.

Glen Lake’s Nick Apsey has accepted a walk-on roll at Central Michigan University. Nick’s older brother, Trevor, took that same path, as he earned a scholarship to play football for the Chippewas.

When it comes to playing Division I football, there are a lot of little things that can go into the average day. These can be things such as working out every morning, have practice multiple times a day, and practicing on your own time.

Nick’s father, Ron Apsey, talked about how Trevor’s experience on the team can really help Nick’s transition to playing football for Central Michigan.

“I think that Trevor, because of his experience, will be able to help Nick out,” Ron Apsey said. “It’s Trevor’s fifth year at Central so he’s been around the block a little and knows what’s going on.”

Even one season for two brothers can really mean a lot to helping the other grow as a player. Ron Apsey mentioned how Nick will be able to learn better with the fact that his brother has been at Central for a while.

“It should be a really good experience for Nick,” Ron Apsey said. “It will be easier for him to learn from someone he’s already familiar with.”

Trevor Apsey is excited to be on the same team as his younger brother. Trevor, who has 49 total tackles in his career at Central Michigan, will be able to help his brother along the road.

“I’m pretty excited,” Trevor Apsey said. “I’ve never been able to be on the same team with Nick.”

Playing Division I college football is no easy task, and some kids have been dreaming about playing for most of their young lives. The Apsey brothers may finally get that chance at Central Michigan, and share in that dream of being on a football field together.
