G-L wins on and off the field

Many different athletes accomplished goals this season.

The baseball players of Glen Lake have accomplished some honors as well as personal goals.

The class of 2018 has accomplished a lot for the Glen Lake baseball team. The team has won two Northwest Conference Championships, four consecutive District Championships, a Regional Championship in 2015 and an appearance in the MHSAA “Elite Eight” in 2015. The team has compiled a four-year record of 116-35-1 (.763).

This year’s team boasted one of the best Glen Lake offenses in their history, and a very consistent pitching staff.

Robbie Dezelski, Cameron Drzewiecki and Jon Popp earned honorable mentions to the All-Northwest Conference. Pitcher Nick Apsey and infielder Cade Peterson earned first team All-Northwest Conference honors.

The All-District pool is comprised of over 100 players from two different districts, with eight to 12 teams total.

Josh Bancroft, Dezelski and Drzewiecki earned All-District honorable mentions. Joey Fosmore, Brandon Tremble, Peterson, Popp, Apsey and Drew Peterson earned first team All- District honors. Apsey, Drzewiecki, Peterson, Drew Peterson and Tremble earned Academic All-District honors as well.

The All-Region team is a pool of over 200 players from four different districts, with 16 to 24 teams in total.

Fosmore, Tremble, Popp, Apsey and Drew Peterson earned All-Region honorable mentions. Cade Peterson earned first team All-Region, and both him and his brother, Drew Peterson, took home Academic All-Region honors.

Cade Peterson also took home first team All-State honors and Academic All-State honors as well.

For the team awards, Brandon Tremble won the Coaches Award. Christian Barber won the Hustle Award. Drew Peterson took home the Most Improved award. Apsey took the Cy Young award, and Cade Peterson took the Glen Lake baseball MVP award.
