Alcohol part of three arrests

Alcohol appears to have played a part in three separate incidents in the county reported in the past week.

Early Sunday morning, Grand Traverse Band Tribal Police responded to a report of a fight in progress in the 7900 block of E. Horn Road in Leland Township.

Deputies found a 30-year-old victim being treated by Leland Rescue for injuries from an assault, according to a police report.

After interviews, deputies determined that a 22-year-old man from Suttons Bay had assaulted the older male with a baseball bat causing injuries.

The 22-year-old male was arrested for felonious assault. He was lodged in the Leelanau County Jail.

About 11 a.m. Friday, deputies responded to a call about a disorderly subject in Lake Leelanau.

Upon arrival, deputies met with a 68-year-old woman from Suttons Bay who pointed out a male suspect.

The woman stated she had driven her vehicle to the dentist office for an appointment. Upon parking in the lot, she stated a male suspect, wearing a red sweatshirt and red bandanna, immediately opened her passenger door and demanded “take me home now,” according to a police report.

The woman exited her vehicle — leaving the male suspect in the car — and went into the office where 911 was contacted, the report continued.

Deputies arrived and located the male suspect a short distance while in possession of a surgical mask from the woman’s vehicle, the report stated. Other possessions inside the woman’s vehicle were also scattered about.

The male suspect, a 35-year-old man from Williamsburg, was arrested for disorderly conduct and lodged in the Leelanau County Jail.
