It appears that things have slowed down a bit. Traffic is such that people can now cross M-22 without taking their own life in their hands. I’m sure the merchants are taking a deep breath now but would not mind if they just had a little reprieve and then the people came back.

The Glen Lake Chamber of Commerce Artirondack chair campaign continues through Friday. People are able to purchase a chair at the end of the season with the public online auction. For more information go to the Crystal River Outfitters website.

The latest winner of the Empire Lions Club’s lucky 13 drawing was Greg Bryce, who received $300. Congratulations.

I understand that the last Glen Arbor Township Board meeting was very well attended.

I’m happy to announce that there will indeed be a Glen Lake Bridge Walk. This walk is sponsored by the Empire Area Community Center . I am told that because of the distance — which is .3 miles or to be modern .3 K — there will be certificates of completion for those that make it. There also will be T-shirts commemorating the bridge walk and refreshments.

It was good to see Mr. and Mrs. Lyon the other day, Bill is doing well and getting back to normal.

Don’t forget Glen Arbor’s townwide sidewalk sale, which will be a three-day event starting Saturday.

There are a lot of retired people in our area and one or two of the comments I’ve heard are. “Experience is the thing you have left when everything else is gone,” “Where do forest rangers go to get away from it all,” and “One nice thing about egotists is they don’t talk about other people.”
