The weather this past weekend was pretty typical for this time year. Two years ago, however, people were swimming in Lake Michigan on November 6th. Not this year.

I’m sure the annual pig roast at Arts Bar on Saturday the 3rd was its normal success and well attended.(not only because it was free).

As always I commend Arts Bar is a business that gives back to the community. I also hope most people took advantage of the trailer in front of Arts looking for food and donations, it’s a good cause, give freely.

If you didn’t turn your clocks back Sunday your going to be early.

On Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m, adults and teens can learn how to create hand built holiday ornaments using vintage book pages, old sheet music and other found papers. Art teacher and studio artist Amy Stevens will lead this workshop at the Glen Arbor Art Center. Bring your own scissors, papers, glue and other materials will be provided.

On Tuesday and next Thursday, Nov. 15, two writing workshops with Ann Marie Oomen, published author, poet and playwright leading the way to finding voice and the muse in two workshops. at the Glen Arbor Art Center.

The Empire Area Community Center is putting a call out to all artisans or craft persons to sign up as vendors for the annual Empire Artisans Market held on. November 24th from 10:00am until 4:00pm at the Empire Township Hall. There are 8’ x 8’ booth spaces and 8’ table top spaces available. Refreshments will be served. Once again, please don’t forget Veterans Day Sunday. Honor your service people, veterans and above all your country.

Beginning next Thursday, Nov. 15, keep your head down in the woods and don’t wear leather jackets it is the beginning of rifle deer hunting.

A very special Birthday wish to my daughter Kellie, another one of my girls, all very special. Happy Birthday wishes to Gwenyth Grace Aylsworth, Ezekiel Baxter, Abigail (the bread guys granddaughter), Kristy Brubaker, Norma Jean Marmie, William Gingerich and Dave Slack.

I’m sure that before and during the election, a lot of people were indecisive. Now they’re not sure.

Be careful, be kind, be happy and keep your head down.

Go patriotism.
