Suspects identified in Cedar assault

The two suspects involved in the incident on Thursday in Cedar have been arraigned.
Justin Tyler Bembenek, 33,  and Bailey Kathleen Rosinski, 25, both of Interlochen, Monday appeared at arraignment and were charged with multiple felony charges. Arraignment was via telecom with the suspects in jail; the prosecutor at the county building and District Court judge in Traverse City.
Bembenek and Rosinski are both charged with two counts of attempted murder, one count of home invasion first-degree, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault and battery.
Bembenek was also charged as a habitual offender, fourth.
The charges stem from an incident about 8 Thursday night, when deputies were dispatched to a home on South Kasson Street in reference to an assault involving injuries.
Upon arrival, deputies located three male occupants of the home with severe injuries: a 78-year-old man with head and stab wounds; a 55-year-old man with several blows to the head with a metal object; and a 56-year-old man with severe stab woulds to the chest and back.
All three men, residents of the home, were transported to Munson Medical Center. Rosinski was known by the home’s occupants.
The suspects fled the scene in a 2004 yellow Suzuki SUV. A statewide “be on the lookout” bulletin went out and an off duty Wexford County detective observed the suspect vehicle westbound on M-115.
The Michigan State Police then pursued the Suzuki in Wexford and Manistee counties before the suspect vehicle rolled over and the suspects were taken into custody.
Both are held on a $1 million bond. Their next court appearance is next Thursday, Jan. 24.
