Services will take place Tuesday at the Paupack United Methodist Church in Paupack, Pa., for lifetime Wallenpaupack, Pa., area resident Frederick W. “J.R.” Singer, most recently of Glen Arbor, who died Nov. 13. He was 85.
He was born May 10, 1925. On Sept. 15, 1947, in Paupack, he married his wife Bernice, who preceded him in death.
He served honorably in the Army during World War II combat in France. He was very active in business and his community in the Wallenpaupack area. After his wife’s death, he enjoyed the companionship of his friend Jen Beyer of Pennsylvania, who survives.
He is also survived by his daughters, Linda (Terry) Gretzema of Glen Arbor, and Kathy Dowd of California; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson.
The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home of Traverse City was assisting the family. Burial was to be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Paupack.
