1962-2009

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Midland for John Veit of Grand Rapids who died at his home on Jan. 28.  He was 46.

He was born on June 23, 1962, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Garry and Patricia (Collin) Veit. On Sept. 3, 1993, he married the former Lisa Herman of Suttons Bay, who survives.

He was an Army veteran and was employed as a courier for Prestige Delivery of Grand Rapids.  An avid Pistons fan, World War II expert and music lover, he enjoyed photography and was active with the Midland Center for the Arts. 

Also surviving are his daughter, Shannen; siblings, Susan (Kurt) Lindow, Mary Veit, Patrick (Sunny) Veit, Garry C. Veit, Sarah (David) Klemish; and Emily (Michael) Wolf; and many other relatives including Leelanau County in-laws.

The Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home in Midland is serving the family.  Memorial donations may be directed to the Shannen Veit Fund.
