Visitation will be held today, Feb. 3, from 3 to 8 p.m., with the rosary to be prayed at 7:30 p.m., at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay, for Lucille Louise Herman of Suttons Bay who died Jan. 31 at Tendercare of Leelanau. She was 82.
She was born May 5, 1928, in Traverse City, the daughter of George and Isabelle (Duran) McManus. On Nov. 28, 1946, at St. Michael’s Church of Suttons Bay, she married Frederick C. “Fritz” Herman, who preceded her in death on March 15, 1999.
She and her husband ran the family business, Herman’s Garage, and were bus drivers for Suttons Bay schools. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and quilting.
She is survived by her children, Martha (Dale) Vanderburg, Frederick C. (Linda) Herman Jr., Thomas (Carolyn) Herman, Marjorie (Mark) Leggett, Mary Lou (John) Schaub, Alvin (Janice) Herman, and Ann Herman; siblings, George “Ted” McManus, Lois Dunham and Patricia Glauch; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald; brothers, Lyman and Charles McManus; sisters, Marchita Herman and Marie Waller.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Feb. 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church in Suttons Bay. Burial will be in the spring at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Suttons Bay.
