Mary E. Sheridan

1910-2009

Visitation will be held today, Jan. 15, from 10 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Glen Arbor for Mary Elizabeth Sheridan of Glen Arbor who died Jan. 11 at her home.  She was 98.

She was born April 11, 1910, in Calumet, the daughter of Richard and Anne (Dunn) Quick.  In June of 1945 she married Arthur Daniel Sheridan who preceded her in death on July 2, 1970.

Her family moved from Calumet to Detroit and then to Glen Arbor in 1934.  Two years after she was married, she and her husband owned and operated Art’s Tavern of Glen Arbor.  After her husband died, she ran Art’s Tavern for 17 more years by herself.  She was involved with the Leelanau County Senior Lunch program in Empire and was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Glen Arbor.

She is survived by her three children, Rich (Bonnie) Quick of Glen Arbor, Cynthia (Fred) Fortner of Davison and Judith Dawson of Texas; a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.

She was also preceded in death by eight siblings, Jean Perkins, Mable Posey, Gladys “Blanche” Quick, Richard, George, Fred, James and Cecil Quick.
