About Us

The Leelanau Enterprise is the voice of Leelanau County, serving as the official medium for local government, an outlet for the county's four public and seven non-public schools and the place sought by residents and visitors for news and views of Michigan's "Little Finger" Peninsula.

The newspaper enjoys a paid circulation list which has expanded annually from 4,266 in 1975 to the 2006 total of 8,911. The median household income for Leelanau is $34,339, 16th highest in Michigan and 2nd highest in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. The county includes 7,200 permanent households and 3,820 seasonal residences.

Mail subscribers receive The Enterprise on Thursdays, while it's available at news stands late Wednesday afternoon. The deadline for display and classified advertising is 12 p.m. Friday; classifieds received after deadline and prior to 10 a.m. on Mondays can be published in the next edition for a $4 surcharge. The newspaper itself is a 5-column tabloid with a column width of 11 1/2 picas and a page depth of 16 inches. The Open Local rate for advertising is $9.50 per column inch, with special rates available for churches, schools and recognized charities. More Advertising Information.News content is compiled by a 5-person editorial staff led by news editor Amy Hubbell. She is joined by staff writers Chris Olson, Eric Carlson, John Tune and Jolynn Paige, as well as various part-time writers and correspondents.

The advertising department is aptly run by manager Debra Campbell, who is assisted by Julie Parker and Joy Holmes.

Providing technical support is composition manager Mike Anderson, along with Jennifer Bufka, Jason Plowman and Pat Varley.

Operating the front office are Wendy VerSnyder, Stacy Thompson and Pam Denoyer.

The website is produced by webmaster John Parker, who will also be handling online ad sales.
