HERITAGE DAYS
There’s no time machine in Empire, but anyone can step back to another time on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 1-4 p.m. at Heritage Day hosted by the Empire Area Museum. The last day of the museum’s season, Heritage Day provides a celebration of things worth remembering.
“The idea is to bring as many old crafts and ideas to the museum where they can be showcased and enjoyed by all,” said Empire Area Museum chairperson Dave Taghon. “People come to just enjoy our four-building complex and get involved in many of
the crafts shown.”
Operated by the Empire Area
Heritage Group, the museum’s four-building complex is comprised of its main building, a one-room school, a 1911 hose house ( re sta- tion), and the Billy Beeman Barn. The barn is recognized by many as one of the most unique in northern Michigan
The 46th annual Heritage Day will feature displays in butter and saurkraut making. Candy, jelly, and other creative goodies, along with treats from popcorn to ice cream.
Wheeled antique items will include several personal cars, bicy- cles, tractors and other vehicles on display, as music of all kinds will ll the air.
The annual quilt raf e will take place once again at 3 p.m.. A beauti- ful hand-crafted quilt, hand-sewn by local quilters, will be raf ed at 3 p.m.. The raf e raises about $1,500 each year.

“It is just a good afternoon to showcase what our museum complex is all about,” Taghon said. “Come and join us.”
