You’ve heard about the many reasons to visit and explore the county. Was one of them to explore the arts?
Leelanau has four community arts centers around the peninsula. Places where
yoga and writing are offered to students and audiences alike.
Leelanau’s art community thrives in a historic building in Leland, a recently renovated and enlarged center in
Glen Arbor, a repurposed elementary school in Greilickville and a newly
own building in Northport.
All four have a history and a legacy of their own. Let’s take
a tour.
Old art, new
art in Leland
The grand dame of the Peninsula is the Old Art Building
the Walter T. Best Women’s Club to host Chautauqua- type seminars and traveling shows. The building hosted
a variety of ups and downs in programming and purpose throughout the last century before the Leelanau Community Cultural Center
