While the weather may not have farmers, especially fruit growers, cheering in Leelanau, they’ll all have a chance to offer “cheers” at an open house set for 4:30-7 p.m. Friday in Glen Arbor.
The event, tabbed the “Love Thy Farmer Open House,” will include a buffet dinner, libations and no music. “Just a casual, laid-back atmosphere for you to unwind and connect,” a release states. All farmers and anyone who is associated with the cherry industry are invited.
Cherry Republic and MSU Extension are sponsors of the free evening, which will be held at the Cherry Republic Pub. RSVPs can be relayed to Nikki Rothwell, manager at the Northwest Michigan Horticultural Research Station.
