Eagles battle Leland ahead of districts

The Eagle girls basketball team (14-2) defeated Leland (1011) 58-27 on Tuesday night during St. Mary’s senior night.

St. Mary will play its final home game of the season tonight against Onekama at 6 p.m.

Leland is having its own senior night against Frankfort at 7 p.m.

Leland came out strong against St. Mary going into halftime only down nine points (2213).

The game remained competitive until the second half when St. Mary caught fire every time they took a shot.

Eagle junior Kyla Barnowski scored 16 points and snagged five rebounds, and five steals. St. Mary senior Leah Fleis had herself a night with 12 points and six rebounds, followed by Delana Kirt with 11 points and five steals. Muriel Korson found her range with 10 points, while Cathryn Mikowski sprinted to the basket for her eight points. For the Comets, senior Mallory Lowe had 11 points and five rebounds, while Elli Miller had eight points, and Ella Knudsen had eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.
