The Lakers held Suttons Bay to 14 points in the first half behind suffocating defense that led to a 75-33 win over the Norsemen.
“Even the boys were starting to say ‘shut the door’ in that third quarter and kept it rolling, working the ball inside out,” Glen Lake Coach Jason Bradford said.
Glen Lake’s Jacob Plamondon and junior Benji Allen led with 18 and 17 points, respectively.
Seven other Lakers found the score sheet including senior Dylan Cundiff with 11 points; junior Colebrook Sutherland eight points; senior Cooper Bufalini and junior Micheal Houtteman had five points each; Jamie Blondia (3), Gabe Hazelton (3), and Dominic Stein (2) combined for eight points.
Suttons Bay was led by Zachariah Raphael with 12 points; Urijah TwoCrow with 4 points; Grayson Opie, Lucas Gordon, and Finn Mankowski with five points; Tyler Porter two points.
Frankfort defeated Lake Leelanau St. Mary 63-55 in the game before Glen Lake versus Suttons Bay.
The Panthers were led by a dominant performance from Carter Kerby with 29 points, eight rebounds, followed by Bryce Plesha with 12 points, nine rebounds, and Tristan Griffin 11 points, nine points.
St. Mary senior Jerry Schaub left it all on the court during his last game in an Eagle basketball uniform with 19 points including back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers in the waning moment to keep the game competitive. Frankfort jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter and held onto the lead for the remainder of the game as the Eagles cut the Panthers lead to within eight points multiple times.
St. Mary defeated Leland in a 58-30 district semifinal on Tuesday, February 27.
