‘Dumbfounded’

To the editor:

I was dumbfounded to see Leelanau County Sheriff Mike Borkovich standing—in full uniform— behind Trump in Grand Rapids last week, in multiple photos and videos. I wondered: Was the Sheriff on the clock and driving a county-owned vehicle to stand behind a man who did not support the Capitol Police on January 6, 2021?

I was astonished to read “Sheriff Takes Stage with Trump” in the Enterprise, including his rationale—immigration law. Is Borkovich unaware of the fact Trump directed Speaker Johnson to bury the bipartisan bill addressing immigration issues about which Borkovich is so concerned?
