Blight grant to fund parking lot work

The Elmwood Township Board held a special meeting just two weeks before their regularly scheduled April meeting last week, so this session was understandably short, with the board just approving construction work and setting dates for additional meetings.

The board approved spending $7,640 to replace 442 square yards of pavement at the Brewery Creek parking lot, with the cost of removal to be covered by a blight elimination grant. The already beaten down pavement was further damaged during construction work on the parking lot late last year, and this project is meant to restore the pavement in the parking area.

In March, the township board authorized distributing requests for proposals for updating its fiveyear comprehensive plan. At the April 8 meeting, the board appointed township Clerk Connie Preston as township board representative to a selection committee to award the contract to one of the bidders, with Trustee Dave Darga to serve as an alternate.
