Leland and Lake Leelanau St. Mary track teams competed in the Charlevoix Invitational on Friday, April 19.
For the girls, Leland finished sixth and St. Mary finished eighth as a team.
St. Mary and Leland boys finished eighth and ninth, respectively.
Boys results:
St. Mary senior Anthony Grant had the best performance of the day by finishing third in shot-put with a throw of 36 feet four inches. The Eagles 4x800relay team finished fifth with a time of 9:58 (Oliver Mitchell, Derek Graham, Garrett Grant, and Garrick Collins).
Leland senior Agustin Creamer finished third in the 3200-meter run with a personal record time of 10:27, and sixth in the 400-meter sprint (57.41). St. Mary’s Oliver Mitchell finished eighth and Leland sophomore Ignacio Creamer finished ninth with times of 59.16 and 59.29, respectively. Leland senior Jimmy Alpi also finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 47.65.
Girls results:
For the girls, Leland junior Ella Knudson shined in the 800meter run with a first-place finishing time of 2:32. Knudsen turned around and won the twomile run by six seconds in a personal record trek of 12:11.
Leland freshman Natalie Burpee finished seventh in the mile, and St. Mary eighth-grader Claire Couturier finished 10th with times of 6:28 and 6:38. Couturier also finished fourth in the two-mile and Kendra Couturier finished sixth with times of 14:18 and 14:56.
St. Mary’s 4x100-relay team of eighth graders Teagan Martinson and Elizabeth Grant, and juniors Natalie Albu, and Leah Plamondon finished fifth with a time of 1:05.
Grant finished 11th in shot put with a throw of 22’05, while Leland junior Alyssa Korson finished 12th with a throw of 22 feet. St. Mary junior Jessica Grant finished fifth in discus and Korson finished seventh with throws of 77’07 and 73’ feet, respectively.
