The Elmwood Township Board decided to change its harbormaster role back to a yearround position after initially advertising it as a seasonal position, as it was with the previous harbormaster, Pete Moon.
Moon left the township marina back in March to pursue work in the private sector. While Moon’s deputy harbormaster, Clem Thompson, has been willing to serve as the interim harbormaster in the weeks leading up to the marina’s summer opening, he said he is not interested in filling the position full time.
Moon’s departure came soon after discussion on the need for a full-time buildings and grounds position in the township the previous month. The township board briefly entertained the notion that they could make the harbormaster position part time and use some of the freed-up resources for a year-round buildings and grounds position.
