To the editor:
Barbara McQuade in her new book, “Attack From Within: How Disinformation Is Sabotaging America” defines disinformation as the “deliberate use of lies to manipulate people, whether to extract profit or to advance a political agenda.”
A recent letter to the Enterprise about a County “cultural survey” reinforces the relevance of McQuade’s quote.
The “cultural survey” was not “largely the initiative” of Commissioner Ross. The survey was suggested by Former Planning Director, Galla, and Undersheriff James Kiessel. They recommended the survey be conducted by a consulting firm. The Board’s Personnel Committee then recommended the survey to the full Board, and it was approved 6-1. No “confi-dential information” was shared by Chairman Wessell with Ross.
Ross’s 1,250 emails the author speaks of were all of her emails from those months identified, not just those related to the employee survey.
Chris Quinn of the Cleveland Plain Dealer is right, “There aren’t two sides to facts.” Truth matters.
