A conflict

To the editor: An investigation is underway to determine whether the chair of a county energy task force violated the county conflict policy when he helped write and advocated for a grant that would pay him. Perhaps the chair, who is in the energy business, should not lead a county body in the same line of work.

More disturbing, however, was the reaction of commissioner Kama Ross. She is quoted in the Enterprise as saying, “There is no ethical problem with what (DeFors) is doing.”

It’s clear that a conflict exists. Ross should follow the county policy rather than ignoring legitimate citizen concerns.
