Elks down Comets in final

Leland fell to Elk Rapids in the district championship 5-1 on Thursday. The Elks 3-peat as district champions. Leland had trouble capitalizing on opportunities while the Elks got out to a quick 3-0 lead 10 minutes into the second half. Comet freshman Lillian Connor broke the Elk Rapids shutout with a dashing goal past the goalkeeper and falling into the net. Leland ended their season 16-3-2 and undefeated (10-0) in the Northwest Conference.
