To the editor:

Thursday June 6th I attended as a observer the Leelanau county Energy Futures Task Force meeting. I appreciated seeing fellow citizens working together to try and take on the task to shrink are carbon foot print.

I understand there are currently a hundred solar installations in Leelanau County.

In Michigan there are currently over 22,500 solar installations and 213 solar related companies . Over $1.9 billion has been invested in solar energy in Michigan.

Cooperation’s such as Target, Ford and General Motors have all gone solar in Michigan.(references for solar in Mi://www.seia. org/state-solar-policy/Michigansolar) The stand that the tasks force has taken by submitting a grant to bring 1.5 million of our tax dollars back to the county makes perfect sense. This does not only add savings to our electrical bills but puts Leelanau county in the fore front to act on the serious climate issue.

I want to THANK the Leelanau County Energy Futures Task Force for being proactive and acting on behalf of our grandchildren and future generations.
