To the editor:
As a Trustee of Leland Township, I am compelled to address the ongoing issues with our current Supervisor, Ms. Och. Her actions have repeatedly been deceitful and misleading to both the board and the citizens of our township.
One notable instance is her handling of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the removal of the dock on River Street. Despite having firsthand knowledge that the DNR had obtained a permit to remove the dock, she failed to inform the board. By her own admission, she knew about the dock’s future but decided unilaterally that the township didn’t have sufficient funds to address the issue. Instead of taking responsibility, she continues to blame the DNR.
At the June 10th board meeting, Ms. Och once again demonstrated her lack of transparency. She did not allow the board to review her Supervisor’s report until after the meeting. This included a critical request from the Parks and Recreation Committee. The committee had made a motion “to discuss with the Board the adoption of the Carp River launch, possible restrictions, and obtaining a first right of refusal if the DNR should want to sell the property.” This important matter should have been presented sooner, not just sprung on the board at the last minute, making it impossible to add to the meeting agenda for proper review and discussion.
Our township deserves better!
