The Glen Lake Clay Target Team shot for the stars at states and almost came home with a championship.
At states, Alex Eaton, Henry Plamondon and Ethan Verschaeve shot 25 straight for the Lakers to finish second overall.
Scoreboard: Eaton tied for 29; Verschaeve tied for 41; Eddie Noonan tied for 58; Henry Plamondon tied for 70; Colin Kasben and Reilly Kinne tied for 105; Austin O’Connor tied for 141; Colin Ostrowski tied for 208.
“It felt good ... We’ve been working hard and staying concentrated on the line,” Kasben said. “I believe we were only a few birds away (from a state championship).”
Travis Krohn tied for 73 in the varsity gun juniors for varsity males.
Scores are kept by how many targets an athlete shoots.
Glen Lake took second in the conference competition that finished at the state meet. Eaton was the best shooter in the conference and averaged 24.2 each time he stepped to the line.
Kasben’s advice to the younger trap shooters, “Make sure to stay focused and stick with it,” he said.
