Each year at Lake Leelanau St. Mary School, one student from elementary, middle school, and high school, are chosen by Principal Megan Glynn, with input from staff, to receive the Outstanding Student Principal’s Award.

Recipients of this year’s awards are senior Leah Fleis, daughter of Dennis & Lisa Fleis; eighth grader Allison Duperon, daughter of Will and Lisa Duperon; and fifth grader Michael Dunphey, son of Mark and Tina Dunphey. Leah is the first student to receive the prestigious award twice, once as an elementary student and again as a graduating senior.

The recipient of the Principal’s Award is a student who embraces the graces and gifts they have received from the Holy Spirit, and utilizes them as followers of Jesus. As a school community, we see the effect of the Holy Spirit’s presence in the students’ life in special qualities and attitudes that develop as the student grows in their faith. The Church identifies these qualities and attitudes as the fruits of the Holy Spirit; signs that the Holy Spirit is alive within us and helping us live our faith in our daily lives.
