Carol Jean Foster of Suttons Bay passed away on June 9, 2024, at the age of 68. She was born in East Lansing, Michigan to Patricia (Walcott) Foster and Robert Weller Foster on January 1, 1956. The family moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where Carol attended school, graduating from Pioneer High School in 1974.
Carol attended Albion College before transferring to Michigan State where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State and remained a proud supporter of Michigan State throughout her life.
Carol worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines based in California before meeting her husband, Mark Loesel. They married in 1981 and had two children, William and Jennifer. The family moved back to Ann Arbor where Carol pursued her career in Retail Management with Lord & Taylor and Hudson’s. In 1997, Carol moved to Suttons Bay and was employed by the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians in their Housing Division for several years.
Carol loved her family and was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Lake Leelanau for many years. Carol was a NASCAR/ ARCA racing fan, an avid reader and enjoyed music. She loved all of her pets, and especially her horse “Red” with whom she loved to compete.
Carol is survived by her children: William ( Jessica) Loesel, Jennifer (David) Lauth: grandchild, Reagan Loesel. She is also survived by her mother, Patricia Ann Foster, and her brother, Robert (Stacey) Foster; nephew, Geoffrey (Kim) Foster; and great niece, Emilia Foster. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Weller Foster.
A private Celebration of Life will be held for Carol later in the summer.
