Macklyn Walter Finch

LELAND- Macklyn Walter Finch, 92, of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Leland, Michigan, passed away on May 13, 2024, in Ocala, Florida. Macklyn was born on April 10, 1932, in Cedar Springs, Michigan, to Mervin and Leila (Spaeth) Finch.

LELAND- Macklyn Walter Finch, 92, of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Leland, Michigan, passed away on May 13, 2024, in Ocala, Florida. Macklyn was born on April 10, 1932, in Cedar Springs, Michigan, to Mervin and Leila (Spaeth) Finch.

Macklyn was an accomplished athlete and was awarded a scholarship to the University of Michigan to play football. After an injury, he switched to the University’s baseball team and graduated with a BS in Education in 1954. Macklyn was a proud alumnus who faithfully attended games at the Big House for many years. Macklyn served in the Army, taught high school history in Cedar Springs, and worked for State Farm as a supervisor until his retirement in 1995. He then moved permanently up to Leland where he spent several years enjoying golfing. Macklyn was also an avid aviator and owned a Cessna which he flew for pleasure.

In 1966, Macklyn married Diane Marie Yonkers, who preceded him in death on January 1, 2001. During their 35-year marriage they had two beautiful children, Tracy and Cristina. He then married Janice Huffman, in 2003 and they eventually moved and resided in Florida.

Mac is survived by his wife Janice Finch; his daughters Cristina M. Finch, Esq. (Jason Seva) and Tracy Rose (Jamie Rose); his sister Myrle Hudson; his grandchildren Byron and Maggie Rose; as well as his stepson John Huffman, two step grandsons Mark and Scott and nine step great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with the family greeting friends at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2nd at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Leland. A private family burial will follow in East Leland Cemetery. Friends are welcome to the luncheon at the Leland Lodge.
