Cherryland Cares awarded a total of $15,230 to six northwest Michigan area non-profit organizations last quarter.
Child & Family Services of Northwest Michigan will use funding to promote their summer Brown Bag Campaign. Habitat for Humanity Grand Traverse Region received funding for construction costs related to two homes in the New Waves Community development.
Healing Through Hope plans to use funding for women’s recovery residence program initiatives in Manistee County. Northwest Michigan Supportive Housing will use grant money to cover utility costs for permanent supportive housing clients. Remain In Touch plans to use funding for their literacy program supporting children of incarcerated parents. SEEDS Ecology and Education Centers received funding to support their Traditional Ecological Knowledge in Rural Northern Michigan Schools initiative.
Since the beginning of 2024, the Cherryland Cares program has awarded $30,230 in grant funding to local non-profits. The program began in 2006 and has since given a total of $784,376.60 in grant funding to programs that support our local community.
Cherryland Cares is a charitable fund overseen by a group of five volunteer Cherryland Electric Cooperative members who review grant applications and allocate money to nonprofi t organizations seeking assistance. Cherryland Cares is funded by members electing to round up their monthly electric bill to the nearest dollar.
