3-year contract OK’d for S-B teachers

A three-year contract with the Suttons Bay Education Association has been adopted by the Suttons Bay Board of Education. The contract, approved at the board’s June 10 meeting, was made available to the newspaper Monday after all required signatures were secured.

The agreement, which expires on June 30, 2027, sets a salary schedule that is calculated based on education level and longevity. For example, a first year teacher with a bachelor’s degree has a salary of $46,000, according to the new agreement. A master’s degreed teacher in their first year would be compensated $48,300. After 20 years of service, a teacher with a bachelor’s degree would be paid $70,971. Teachers with master’s degrees after 20 years would increase to $74,519.
