Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes volunteers will be at the Empire Farmer’s Market on Saturday, July 20 , from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All are welcome to stop by to ask a question about volunteering in the park or to purchase Picture-Perfect Sleeping Bear, a sparkling collection of full-color photographs and engaging stories that captures the beauty and history of the Sleeping Bear Dunes area. It’s the perfect souvenir of special times spent in the area. Short, one- and twopage vignettes describe centennial farms, logging, the controversial story of the park’s creation, and how the area in the park is protected and used today. The stunning photos, historical and often humorous memories of the past 150 years in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore area were submitted by visitors and residents who love the area.
The Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is protecting resources and heightening visitor experiences in partnership with Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
