To the editor:
With a Family Life Education background, I have concerns. Parenting Communities is a parent education program that helps parents navigate the early years. I reviewed the survey portion of the 2023 annual report, seeing positive responses, some pertaining to practical assistance (lactation coaching, postpartum issues…) and others that were more “entertainment” and “socialization.” From the open-ended survey questions (50 respondents), more practical services (life skills) and smaller playgroups (day& evening) outweighed the flashy entertainment events. With a $100,000 budget surplus, it is fiscally prudent to maintain the lower present millage rate until the program follows the data. Vote NO.
