Beverly Ann Kober, age 83, of Lake Leelanau passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024.
Beverly was born on January 27, 1941, in Worcester, MA to Majorie and Eugene Wood.
She attended Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, MA for two years of nursing prerequisites before transferring to nursing school. Beverly met the love of her life, Adelbert Kober, at the freshman picnic in the fall of 1959. They began dating a year later and married on June 21, 1964. Beverly graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing in 1963 from the New England Sanitarium and Hospital in Stoneham, MA. The couple relocated to Detroit, MI when Bert was hired as a radiation physicist. Beverly then earned her bachelor’s and master’s in nursing from Wayne State University and became a clinical instructor of community health nursing at Wayne State University. Bert went on to work at three of the “Big Three” Detroit auto companies, as a mechanical engineer.
Beverly spent many happy years as a Michigander, living in the Detroit, Holly, Birmingham, Alpena, and Lake Leelanau areas. Beverly and Bert loved spending time together, traveling, and being with family. Beverly enjoyed history, gardening, cooking, reading mysteries, helping others, attending services at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and spending time with friends. Beverly and Bert also taught a vegetarian cooking class for many years at the Troy SDA Church.
Beverly is survived by her beloved husband, Adelbert, her daughter Karrin (Terry) Licht, and her grandson James. She is also survived by her cousins; Cathy Mencer and Barbara Rose, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of Beverly’s life will take place on July 21,2024, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, with visitation at 10am and the service at 11am.
